Tip of the week 28 August 2007

In writing your speeches, be graphic. Incorporate the 5 senses (taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell) into what you are saying. By doing this your audience is more likely to remember what you have to say.

Open House / 300th meeting of the McGill Toastmasters Club

Tuesday, September 11th The McGill Toastmasters Club will hold its landmark 300th meeting. In celebration of this event we encourage everyone to join us for an Open House meeting at which we have the pleasure of presenting the special guest speaker J.A. Gamache.

August Dinner Gathering

We are going to have a dinner gathering at a Persian restaurant called “Esfahan” in NDG. I may mention that this is not a social event so everyone is going to pay for her/himself. However, I may ask you to kindly confirm your attendance with publicrelations@mcgilltoastmasters.ca so that we would know the number of the people who are planning to go.

Where?
Esfahan Restaurant
5594-A, Sherbrooke West at the corner of Marcil Ave.
H4A 1W3
Tel.: 514-369-2099

When?
7:30 pm. Friday August 24

For those of you who use the public transportation, the best way maybe to take the metro to Vendome station (Orange line) and then take the bus #105 (west direction) up to the corner of Oxford and Sherbrooke and then walk for 100 meters and YOU WILL BE THERE!

Feel free to ask your friends, family members or anyone who maybe interested in spending a night with the McGill Toastmasters Club members, to go with you.

Poll

In the light of concerns that exists about handshaking at the lectern during the flu season, do you think that the McGill TM club should temporarily dispense with this form of formal greeting?
