Tip of the week 13 November 2008

A research in communications showed that audience are influenced by a speaker in the following percentages:

  • Spoken words: 7%
  • Voice: 38%
  • Body language: 55%

So how you say the spoken words is important, but even more important than this is your body language.

Tip of the week 12 February 2008

Ideas pass through your mind like comets. They are beautiful but have short lives. You may try to paint a drawing of them the day after, but it takes a lot of time to remember what you have seen. It will never be equivalent to a photo that you take instantly. This is the reason why the poets jump up off the bed when they find a new idea; they ignite a candle, take a pen and a paper and write it down immediately. Now a day, you don’t need even P & P. You can use your old style walkman, or your new electronic pets such as mp3, mp4, and in near future mp5 devices. Please rememeber that your ideas may bring big changes. It has been said that the life got started by a comet.

Poll

In the light of concerns that exists about handshaking at the lectern during the flu season, do you think that the McGill TM club should temporarily dispense with this form of formal greeting?
