What is Toastmasters?
Toastmasters International is a world-wide non-profit educational organisation dedicated to help people improve their communication and leadership skills. The first Toastmasters club was founded in 1924 in California by Dr. Ralph Smedley. Since then the organisation has grown to almost 11,500 clubs with more than 226,000 members in 92 countries with close to 1213 clubs in Canada.
Toastmasters is for anyone over the age of 18 and members come from all walks of life. One thing they have in common however is a strong desire for self-improvement and helping others.
We learn best by doing. Each Toastmasters club is a learning laboratory where you’ll enjoy experimenting, discovering and developing your potential.
