Meeting #717

Great evening as usual with all the beautiful members and our welcomed guests.

Great evening as usual at McGill Toastmasters

Kate as toastmasters! Always smart, quick witted, and delightful.

Dr. Yvon Elysee greeting the speakers and distributing the awards! Here
Dumindra is receiving  her first timer speech!

Johnny gave the best speech of the evening. Here he is receiving his award!
Yvon looks like a hot shot rapper! You got the style Dr.! Keep it up 😉

Our beautiful Cheryl (yes! she still is our president!) giving one of her last
presidential speeches, right before the term ends.

Huh? What’s this?!  Oh, yes, It’s Nadal! You’re looking wild sir! Yet still
recognizable despite spending the long weekend  in the Canadian woods!

A few toastmasters hanging out at the bar, and attending the show of
the band Brind’Amour.

Raja announcing his new idea for a new social activity.

McGill Toastmasters Summer Social. BBQ at park Angrinon

McGill Toastmasters is a lot more than a place where we learn to improve our speaking skills, it is a place where we develop deeper relationships, it is a place where we help each other to grow as a speaker and as a person.

If you are looking for a place to improve your speaking skills and a place which will coach you and encourage you to grow, come to visit us.

McGill Toastmasters organizes four formal social events during the years and numerous less formal events.

This event, summer social, was organized by our members Raja Chemali and Dave Bomont.  The members of our club thank you for your leadership and for providing such a great event.

Congrats to our VP team at the TLI 2016!

Benefits of attending TLI:

  • Club officer training provides the knowledge and tools for club officers to do their roles successfully
  • Club officers trained at TLI help fulfil a requirement for officers to receive Advanced Leadership Bronze ( ALB) credit
  • Trained club officers contribute to member satisfaction and club success. Clubs with trained officers are more exciting, more new members join, more education awards are earned, and those clubs are more successful
  • Clubs with 4 officers trained during each TLI season ( summer and winter) results in half DCP credit for DCP Goal # 9
  • Clubs with 7 officers trained during each TLI ( season results in the club receiving the “Golden Toaster Award” (a ribbon for the club banner) at the Fall or Spring District Conferences
  • TLIs offer a unique opportunity to network with other members, other clubs and with officer cohort groups
  • TLIs offer opportunities to learn core function best practices and how to identify and overcome challenges
  • The “Beyond the Club Experience” is priceless

Tip of the week 7 June 2016

Engage the power of belief to be a more effective speaker. Believe in your words, your body, your mind and your heart.

Tip of the week 11 May 2016

Manage your stress by mingling with your audience before the start of your speech:

you’ll feel more comfortable talking to people you’ve established a relationship with.

Tip of the week 3 May 2016

To be an effective speaker, one should examine their motivation. Be passionate about what you are expressing – and why.

Tip of the week 27 April 2016

Always be pared with backup for technical glitches that can transpire during a power point presentation

Tip of the week 12 April 2016

Use the power of storytelling in your public speaking (anecdotes).
